One-Star Reviews

This book is a curated collection of publicly available one-star Google reviews based in NYC. Why always five stars, Michelin, and polished perfection? This project flips the perspective, turning raw dissatisfaction into a subject worth looking at.

I was drawn to the unfiltered nature of these reviews, where anyone can upload a photo at any time, without editing or polishing. Let’s take a moment to appreciate everyone’s anger, the emotional charge you can feel in the images and words. The amateur photography, impulsive captions, and strange details reveal how frustration gets recorded in an age of instant feedback.

This book is not about mocking, but about observing. What do these overlooked voices of complaint tell us? What aesthetics emerge from digital detritus, fleeting outbursts, and badly designed platforms? By reframing these fragments, the book preserves them as something visible, strange, and worth revisiting.
